14th International Conference on Relational and Algebraic Methods in Computer Science (RAMiCS 2014)
Marienstatt im Westerwald, Germany
28 April - 1 May 2014
Travel information
The abbey Marienstatt is a very remote place, hidden away in a valley in the
"Westerwald"-region (openstreetmap.org,
maps.google.com.
The next cities ("close" would be the wrong word to describe it) are
Cologne, Bonn (airport CGN), Siegen, Koblenz and Frankfurt (airport FRA).
By plane
The best destination airports are Frankfurt (FFM) or Cologne/Bonn
(CGN). From there, continue by train (preferrably by ICE).
By train
The best train destination is Montabaur. The train station is located
along the high-speed-train (ICE) track that also connecting
the airports Cologne/Bonn (CGN) and Frankfurt (FRA).
When booking a train ticket please verify and cross-validate that the train actually
stops at Montabaur (most trains are non-stop-trains!).
From Montabaur, continue by bus/tram/taxi.
By bus/tram/taxi
Train stations close to Marienstatt are:
Hachenburg (4 km)
Betzdorf (15 km)
Montabaur (35 km) - to Hachenburg by tram (= Regio-Bus).
Assuming you arrive at Montabaur, the best way to come to Marienstatt
is by "Regio-Bus" (which actually is a single-track tram).
By car
From A3, take exit 37 Dierdorf. The sliproad L258 towards Diedorf soon
joins B413.
You go through (or pass by) Dierdorf, Marienhausen, Herrschbach,
Mündersbach. In Höchstenbach continue on B413 (do not change
on to B8) trough Wied, Merkelbach towards Hachenburg.
Keep left (passing by Hachenburg on the right hand side).
The road makes a sharp left turn, crosses a train track and ends in a
T-junction. Turn left onto B414 towards Altenkirchen.
Take the next road to the right and follow the roadsigns to "Abtei
Marienstatt".
If you arrive as a small group (say, 3-6 people at Montabaur,
I'll try and organise a Shuttle Service).
If you have problems arranging the local transportation please do not
hesitate and ask - since others might encounter similar problems I'll
then update the route descriptions on the web, too.
